I’m getting a shipment of 15 paintings ready to the Pheonix Topeka Gallery (in Kansas) and came across this painting of Lake Tahoe requested by Kyle, the owner. I love how a plein air painting can take you back instantly to the time and place, everything about the day. This painting does that for me. Unfortunately, I remember those dawn misquitoes too, but you take the good with the bad.

Cloud Burst, Lake Tahoe

Cloud Burst (Lake Tahoe) – Oil on Linen – 8×10

So, I hope to come back with more from this trip. We’re actually staying at Sam and Phil’s place in Alta, nearby.  I’ll be painting with my friend Andy Skaff, who has promised some newly discovered painting spots. He lives in Tahoe part time, so knows the area well. I need new inspiration now and then. A change of scenery does wonders for me.
